23rd Judicial District Attorney reports guilty pleas for April 15-19

The 23rd Judicial District Attorney's Office, which includes the parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James, reported guilty pleas during the week of April 15-19.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Jan Avara, 15245 Palamino Lane Prairieville, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  2. Mickie Batiste, 134 Evangeline Dr. Donaldsonville, LA, age 26, pled guilty to Aggravated Battery, Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities, and Principal to Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  3. James Wilson, 1635 2nd Lutcher, LA, age 58, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  4. Tregg Babin, 14017 Gary Babin Rd. Saint Amant, LA, age 56, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000. The defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  5. Morris Miles, 924 Elizabeth St, Donaldsonville, LA, age 31, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Simple Escape. The defendant was sentenced to 11 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.                                                                                                     
  6.  Corey Perrett, 39318 Camp Dr. Prairieville, LA, age 26, pled guilty to Felony Simple Criminal Damage to Property and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  7. Nathan Watkins, 9910 Galvin Dr. Baton Rouge, LA, age 22, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  8. Broderick Mullins, 1330 Jim Taylor Dr. Baton Rouge, LA, age 44, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  9. Ryan Zimmerle, 6046 Hwy 75 Gonzales, LA, age 38, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1-year supervised probation.
  10. Theresa Serpas, 14243 Tiggy Duplessis Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 60, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $25,000 or More and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  11. Grayson Soileau, 14687 Hwy 10 St. Francisville, LA, age 31, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Leila Braswell, Kenneth Dupaty, and Jeff Heggelund. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Keyojuan Turner.

  1. Kyle Burdis, 40493 Cross Creek Ave Gonzales, LA, age 34, pled guilty to Theft of a Motor Vehicle and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  1. Gerald Cox, 105 ½ West Eighth St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 56, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 1 year in the Parish Prison with credit for time served.                                                                                                                                                                 
  2. Robert Hutchinson, 13298 LA 73 Geismar, LA, age 60, pled guilty to Illegal Carrying of Weapons/Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Kenneth Dupaty, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau.

Assumption Parish: 

  1. Junious Henderson, 122 Scott Dr. Napoleonville, LA, age 32, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  2. Larry Blanchard, 507 7th Morgan City, LA, age 49, pled guilty to Simple Escape from Custody and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  3. Melvin Williams Jr., 6887 Hwy 308 Belle Rose, LA, age 48, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Aggravated Flight from an Officer. The defendant was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Cody Martin.

St. James Parish:

  1. Tyki Clayton, 2456 N Courseault St. Lutcher, LA, age 23, pled guilty to Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling, Felony Domestic Abuse Battery, and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. The defendant was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Quindon Gaines, 2249 S King Ave. Lutcher, LA, age 27, pled guilty to Illegal Possession, Use, Control of Weapons- Crime of Violence or Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  3. Terrance Thomas, 4549 Reynes St. New Orleans, LA, age 51, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight from an Officer and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Bruce Mohon, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets.
