Bossier, Caddo parishes show high COVID-19 positivity rates for last week

The percentage of positive COVID-19 tests remained stubbornly high in Bossier and Caddo parishes for the week of Oct. 26-Nov. 2.

During that time span, there were 1,959 COVID-19 tests in Bossier Parish. There were 187 new cases for a 9.5% positive test percentage. 

Medical experts indicate a desire to be at 5% positive test percentage or less.

Caddo Parish was only slightly better. The parish had 4,661 tests last week and returned 324 new cases for a 7% positive test percentage.

Caddo Parish has the most total cases in northwest Louisiana with 10,370, according to the Louisiana Department of Health. There have been 396 COVID-19 deaths in the parish.

Bossier Parish has 4,399 COVID-19 cases with 122 deaths because of the virus.

DeSoto Parish had 30 new cases last week to give it 1,045. There have been 35 deaths due to COVID-19 in the parish.

Webster Parish had 32 new cases last week and has 1,498 total cases. Forty-one deaths in the parish have been attributed to COVID-19.

Sabine Parish had 36 new cases to give it 1,020. The parish has 15 COVID-19 deaths.

Natchitoches Parish had the most new cases outside of Caddo and Bossier parishes. There were 46 new cases in the parish to give it 1,516 cases. Four additional deaths raised the number of COVID-19 deaths in the parish to 32.

Red River Parish had 31 new cases last week. The parish has 461 cases with 24 COVID-19 deaths.

Bienville Parish had 33 new cases for 628 overall. There have been 35 deaths because of the virus in the parish.

Claiborne Parish had the fewest number of new cases in northwest Louisiana last week with 10. The parish has 614 cases with 26 COVID-19 deaths.

Lincoln Parish had 43 new cases last week and has 1,701 total cases. There have been 51  COVID-19 deaths in the parish.
