Tuscaloosa can expect rain Wednesday afternoon as a weather system will bring a wintry mix to some areas northwest of Tuscaloosa County, according to forecasters.

The rain will move into Tuscaloosa around 4 p.m., but temperatures will be in the 40s so no ice accumulation is expected. Rain is expected into Thursday, but the overnight low will be in the high 30s, so no travel issues are expected in the Tuscaloosa area.

Freezing rain and sleet are in the Wednesday afternoon forecast for Lamar, Marion and Winston counties in West Alabama. But the wintry mix is expected to become rain in places like Hamilton, Haleyville and Vernon.

Cold temperatures will remain in the Tuscaloosa area through Friday, with highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s. The weekend will warm up, with highs rising into the 60s.
